October 25, 2013 Funding Update
We have currently raised enough funds to fill an entire shipping crate of grain bin homes (13 units). This is such a praise. If you would still like to get involved, we are currently looking for funds to help with transportation costs for the group traveling to Haiti in March, as well as collecting much needed items for the mission field.
We are currently collecting:
- Bath Soap
- Children's vitamins
- Girls underwear sizes 3 and 4
Sukup Safe T Home
The grain bin home that is being displayed on our front church lawn is manufactured by Sukup Grain Systems. The home was designed to withstand high winds (in excess of 130 mph) and used in environments like Haiti where large storms are a common threat. Each unit costs approx. $6000 to purchase and takes a group of 6 people about 4 hours to assemble, with only the use of hand tools.
Our church has set a goal of raising enough money to fill a shipping crate (13 units) and assemble a team to travel to Haiti to construct the homes. We would be honored to have you partner with us in this endeavor...
Here is a video about the construction of the home...
And here is a few pictures of our church assembling the home on our property.
